People who are forced to leave their homes, changing countries and leaving behind their lives, their memories and, sometimes, their loved ones, do not do it for pleasure. In fact, migration is not something that is chosen , it is a vital necessity. And sometimes it is the only option they have to save their lives and those of their sons and daughters. Find out why. Download our free guide here "Debunking myths: 7 smart answers" When the only option is to flee Since World War II, there has not been a displacement crisis of the caliber we are experiencing today: more than 65 million people have been forced to migrate. The stories of refugees are as many as there are people who star in them, and the reason why they leave their home is also different in each place. They can flee war conflicts , poverty or the fatal consequences of climate change , among other causes. We refresh your memory with some of them. Are we going to continue idly? refugee-stories In Syria, 4 million people have fled the war.
A large part are in refugee camps in Jordan or in its capital, Amman. They do not have work permits, so they depend on humanitarian aid. But the vast majority of people who have fled Syria are in Lebanon , almost one and a half million. Oxfam Intermón's teams of professionals provide them with what they need to cover their basic needs: drinking water, hygiene products, plumbing and legal information about their rights and access to medical services. The nearly one million people from the Rohingya community who have fled to Myanmar still do not feel safe to return home . Oxfam Intermón has already helped nearly 260,000 of them by improving the terrible hygienic Asia Mobile Number List conditions of the improvised camps in which they live. As a result of the conflict that broke out in December 2013, one in five people in the Central African Republic have left their home . Spain, Greece and Italy constantly receive people who flee their countries looking for an opportunity.
